This course is suitable for those who have some experience working in disability or a related field. If you are keen to take the next step in your career in the disability sector, this course will build on what you already know and prepare you to work in roles where you manage others. Working in the disability sector can be very rewarding and diverse, and this qualification will give you advanced skills to potentially move into a supervisory role. It will equip you with the management qualities to supervise other employees, create frameworks for an effective workplace and assist you to empower your clients to participate in the community and seek an appropriate level of independence.
This certificate course covers a range of specialised skills and knowledge including recognising healthy body systems, understanding person-centred support, and advocating for people with a disability.
This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of community settings and clients’ homes, who provide training and support in a manner that empowers people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation and well-being. Workers promote a person-centred approach, work without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a small team.
To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.
